What are Actinomycetes?

They look like fungi, but are bacteria

Actinomycetes are microscopic bacteria that look, and sometimes behave like, fungi. They produce long, spider web-like strands throughout decomposing organic materials.

Actinomycetes are particularly useful because they break down hard organic materials like newspaper, tree bark and woody stems.
