It's what makes leaves green!

Chlorophyll is a green agent created by the process of photosynthesis. The word is derived from two Greek words: chloros meaning green, and phyllon meaning leaf.

There are specialized photosynthetic cells in a plant's leaves which convert sunlight into carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are necessary for the transportation of energy throughout the plant's system.

Chlorophyll is found in plants, algae and in cyanobacteria.
