There is a number of ways to distill water.
There is a number of methods which can be used for distilling water, but the most tried and true method is putting undistilled water under high heat, causing it to evaporate, and then collecting the evaporated water. The process of evaporation leaves behind salts (electrolytes) and may other impurities.
