Hot and dry, the Sonoran Desert can also be a great place to install a desert garden.

Like its neighbor to the east, the Chihuahuan Desert, the Sonoran Desert straddles the U.S.- Mexico border. Large parts of southern California, much of Arizona, and the entire state of Sonora in Mexico are covered by the Sonoran Desert. Described as one of the hottest deserts in North America, it encompasses about 120,000 square miles. Several other deserts are included within the Sonoran, including the Colorado Desert and the Yuma Desert.
