Not a left or right-winger, a radicle is something way different.
A radicle is not someone with far left or far right political leanings. The spelling for that is radical, although both terms have similar origins.
A radicle is the part of a seed embryo that emerges before anything else in the seed. Once outside the seed, it develops into a main root, root hairs and secondary roots.
Both radicle and radical originate from the Latin radix, which means "root." The word radicle actually derives from the Latin radicula (meaning “little root”), a diminutive form of radix. And radix has its “roots” in an ancient Indo-European word, wrad.
Seeds can wait for decades, even centuries for conditions to be right before geminating.
When germination does occur, the radicle emerges from the seed first, tearing through the seed coating, growing into the soil and producing roots.

But seed germination does not occur automatically. A number of biological mechanisms within the seed must occur before germination is even possible. Even then, the right amount of water must penetrate the seed coating to trigger germination.
If conditions are favorable, the radicle will rupture the seed coating.
Once the radicle protrudes from the seed coating, the seed is considered to have germinated.
Radicles are generally only produced by dicots, rather than by monocots.
Radicles are the basis and origin for the entire root system of the plant for its entire life.
